Another illustration set for Female Network! A couple days late to be posting this… But just like any other holiday, Mother’s Day should really be an every day affair, don’t you think? (Link to the FN e-cards HERE.)

Thinking about my own mom always brings to mind one of the more memorable stages in her life–as a single young woman in the ’70s, she was stylish (and had the smallest waistline EVER), smart, active, and every way a go-getter. But being a mother didn’t stop her from pursuing her dreams, which she shares with us with an immense generosity to this day. I wonder about the time I’ll become a mom myself, and whether I’ll even be half the admirable woman she was. These drawings are all dedicated to her (as well as all the moms and mother-figures I know), whose love for me has endured and blossomed through the years. I love you, Ma!

Have you ever met such a perfectly floral, feminine, romantic font? I haven’t, until now!

Design*Sponge recently hosted an alphabet design contest, and although I wasn’t really keen on the winning fonts (see the results here), these are two of the entries that really hit the spot (because they are so French and feminine, of course!)…

The first one’s “Soft Wonder,” designed by Jordan Kay Phillip. I love the level of detail and hand-drawn effort put into this one, as well as the black outlines/inked edges that give such a subtly glam feel.

The second one I love is “Ribbons” by Alice Young. Cheeky, casual, and very cute!

First two weeks was just that–BAM. I couldn’t have asked for more action on the first month of the year! And so, despite promising to update this space at least twice a week, here I am scrambling to recall the bits and pieces that (literally) just flew over my head…

Shoots, shoots, shoots have dotted my schedule more frequently than usual. Thankfully, I’ve managed to survive, thanks to the lovely and uber-talented people I’ve been lucky enough to work with (and still work with!)–plus, I’ve learned to enjoy out-of-office shoots and styling gigs now, since laying-out still eats up ninety-percent of my day job. Le sigh.

In other news, I am seriously enchanted by spring’s barely-there, light-as-icing colors–the soft butter caramels, lilacs, and blush pinks are LOVE (yup, it’s my romantic side coming out!). It’s as color-minimal as it gets, considering my love affair with all things black, gray, and white. Time to stash all my beloved black leathers and separates for now? Oh, but if only I had the courage (and non-practicality) to don a flouncy, candy-pink chiffon number to work!
